Went to the pink floyd night at the empire and poped in for a beer before it started, beer was first class, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, good juke box which was gladly turned up when requested... which is a rearity these days, pink floyd were no better than a pub band so we came out at half time and went back to the dunn cow until our lift arrived, it deserves ti do well....... I hope it does.

Saw the comedy night advertised on the facebook and as it was free we popped in. We'd been the the other comedy thing at venue before so we had an idea what to expect. This one was much better though, the one at venue was a bit rough and edgy, this one was very casual, all the comedians were chatting with people during the breaks and stuff. Weird bar, like the pub at beamish but as it was full of people laughing it was a nice experience. Probably going to go to the next comedy thing, but if I'm in town on a weekend I can see me starting off our night in there, quite friendly

I know the couple who are taking it over (I helped them move in yesterday!). They are hoping to restore the pub to it's former glory and any changes made will be sympathetic to the spirit of The Dun Cow, such as wooden floors, guest ales and non fancy pub food. The toilets are due a massive renovation but be assured, this is the only part of the pub which will be modernised!

Looks like it's back. Cask ale was lovely, decor's much better and banter was mint. New management's made a massive difference. Just bring on match days again!
